The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing the credit union’s social media accounts to achieve superior member engagement, increase website traffic and the credit union social media presence, and drive store visits by exploiting all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap. A solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize social media campaigns to fully engage on all channels is required. This team member is responsible for curating relevant conversations on behalf of the credit union brand, increasing the credit union brand awareness through social media efforts, and “soft selling” products and services by providing support to current and prospective members.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RELATED DUTIES

 Build and execute a social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.

  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information.
  • Direct oversight and management of currently used social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to deliver frequent, relevant content tied to organizational goals.
  • Develops and updates social media calendars and posting schedules.
  • Proactively monitor and respond to reviews, messages, and comments across our online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement and protection of our online reputation.
  • Maintain position as a subject matter expert on social media platforms, including emerging platforms not yet adopted by the Credit Union; educate and advise on appropriate entry points into new platforms.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders to determine how to effectively market the credit union’s brand and its products and services using social media.
  • Work in tandem with the Visual Design Specialist to utilize high-quality imagery, photographs, and visualizations for use in formatting assets.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our editorial authority to maintain and expand upon our brand voice and tone consistently across all social media platforms.
  • Obsessively ensures every word published is edited and proofed for grammatical accuracy.
  • Showcase the Credit Union’s strong connection to its communities through its sponsorships, partnerships, and volunteer efforts.
  • Utilize website and various media and social media tools and analytics to educate and inform the Marketing team of performance, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern.
  • Become a product expert in credit union’s current and future product offerings.
  • React to feedback and revision with an open mind, flexibility, optimism, and diplomacy. 
  • Utilize excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, under quick deadlines and be able to respond quickly and accurately to change.
  • Read and follow news in the financial services industry for social media and/or linking opportunities.
  • Encourage greater social media participation within the organization.
  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of new and current social media trends. 
  • Develop timelines and identify milestones, communicating expectations to stakeholders to ensure deadlines and defined goals are met.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required, with the flexibility to deal with unexpected events and attend meetings that may occur outside of regularly scheduled work hours. 
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory compliance in marketing, advertising, products and services, and field of membership requirements. Completes required training courses in a timely manner as prescribed.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. 
  • Ensures that the brand and professional reputation are maintained at all times.
  • Resolves questions, requests, and problems courteously and within a given timeline.
  • Assists with special projects as needed and performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
